Back To The Music 於2021月9月12日 Facebook 專頁已發佈的新歌【Night is still young】,唱者兼填詞人Aidan藉這首歌來慶賀他的爸爸——日華牧師9月1日的生辰,讚頌真命天子誕生的一刻。
【Night is still young】
Song Lyrics
Halleluuu
Hallelujah
A1:
It is so exhausting
Doing this all-day
An endless cycle of boredom
Miles and miles away from the town,
B1:
Oh no, but not tonight
There’s something ‘bout it
I feel it in the air
All the animals are awaitin’
And then the heavens part
Angelic choir
So fair and so mighty
Proudly singing
Halleluuu
Hallelujah
A2:
Do not be afraid
Do not dismay
For miles and miles away in town
There’s a special baby being born
B2:
So pack your bags tonight,
You better hurry
The night is still young
Gather all your sheep and belongings
The star of Bethlehem
Will show the way
A chance of a lifetime
Altogether
Halleluuuuu
Hallelujah
Halleluuuuu
Hallelujah

【Night is still young 】
In this song, I want you to feel the excitement of the shepherds when they first learned about the birth of the Savior from the angels. Among the many walks of life, why did God choose this uneducated group of shepherds who did strenuous work to be the first pilgrims to hear this great news? His choice makes me ponder. God never judges people by their status. The Lord Jesus Christ was not born as a king, nor was he born to live in a magnificent palace. But instead, he was born as a carpenter’s son, who gradually stepped into his ministry and then became the Savior of the world.
A1:
In the past, I often heard the English version of the hymn “Hallelujah” at school. I always visualised a peaceful night sky. But this time, when I heard the Chinese version of the hymn, it gave me a more upbeat and cheerful feeling. Oh yes! It is a feeling that matches the excitement of the shepherds at that time. When the angels appeared and told them this good news, they could not have had the time to calm themselves and let the news sink in before setting out to find Jesus. Correct! They would be excited and eager to go right away. That’s the real sensation of singing hallelujah!
In fact, shepherding is a grassroot job. The income is not much, and the job is very dull; shepherding can also be very dangerous. They have to protect their flock with their lives. They complain about their work and lives, watching over their flocks day in and day out without much to do. If there are wild animals, the shepherds would need to take the risk to protect the sheep. And other times, they can only sit around and watch the stars and scenery. The days are dull and aimless. Moreover, the distance to town is very far, and it is not easy to see their family.
B1:
However, they notice something different tonight. There is an unusual sensation in the air. It seems something important is happening. Even the animals are aware of this atmosphere as if they were waiting for something to happen. Suddenly, a group of angels appear in the sky. They are handsome, mighty and have beautiful voices. A magnificent scene that is not of this world. Then the angels begin to sing, “Hallelujah!”
A2:
The angels say to the shepherds, “Don’t be afraid, don’t be frightened. A unique baby is being born in a distant mountain village.
B2:
Get up quickly before the night comes, when you still have a chance. Gather all your belongings and flocks. The star of Bethlehem will lead the way. Take this once in a lifetime opportunity to go on a pilgrimage and witness the birth of the Savior. Hallelujah!”
A3, A4:
Upon receiving the glad tidings, the shepherds sing Hallelujah with great joy. They are very excited and eager to witness the historic moment in Bethlehem.
It’s Christmas eve.
Snowflakes glide from the clouds as the air simmers with a familiar cheeriness. An ensemble of carolers is making their way through the streets, raising their voices in unison and adding to the Christmas spirit. The entire town is bustling with activity, as families are busy preparing their meals, while children are engaged in epic snowball fights. What a time to be alive! Holidays as beloved as Christmas are expected by folks all over the world. They mark their calendars, preplan their family trips, and even ring up their relatives ahead of time to invite them over. Christmas holds such significance in their hearts because of its underlying meaning and story. To many, it marks the birth of Jesus Christ, in a manger in Bethlehem, fulfilling the prophecy that a redeemer would be given unto Israel. We of course know that isn’t really the day our Savior was born.
Yet have we ever stopped to think that, while we celebrate things that have happened, God celebrates things that are about to happen? In other words, before Jesus was born, God set in place the star of Bethlehem to guide the wise men to Jesus. He also had His angels ready to tell the shepherds the Savior’s arrival. God prepared a lowly manger for Mary to give birth, where they would not attract unwanted attention from King Herod’s forces. God prepared a secret route through Egypt for the family so that they could leave, avoiding detection. God’s joy for the birth of Jesus is unmatched.
His love for us is so great that He anticipated Christ’s arrival and his eventual act of redemption for us. The prophecies in the Bible that foretell Jesus’ coming, as well as all the miraculous deeds and acts God did for Jesus, are proof of this. So as we sit together with our families, celebrating all sorts of festivals and holidays,
let’s remember that before we even knew to celebrate, God celebrated for us in the heavens.
